Finding Jaime by
P. Dawn
My rating:
2 of 5 stars
I'm the odd one out this time, I know. I wrote a review, but it's on my phone. My reaction was such that I needed to get my thoughts down immediately while slightly seething in rage. *shrugs* Can't actually see my phone at moment, though, so . . ..
Guess I'll do a bare bones reconstruction of what I wrote, and then add more later. Or something. Maybe.

I did not like this book.
(view spoiler)[The main character, Jaime, is a foul-mouthed, overaly sexualized immature bitch.
Which I'm fine with. For the most part. It was the part where she's a cheater who got pissed off at the woman she cheated on, mentally and physically tortured the woman she cheated on (no,
really, she did - (view spoiler)[forcing the other woman to lie on your bed as you bind her then strip her has elements of . . um . . . some bits of torture (hide spoiler)]
Counter-point: The woman she cheated with is the same woman she cheated on.
She just didn't know that (which was why she was pissed). While dating Joss, Jaime was also dating Madame Butterfly (I mean Butterfly). She developed feelings for both. Though she only fucked one of the two before learning that both were the same woman.
How the fuck did she no know they were the same woman? Did Joss pretend to be her own twin named Butterfly? No - Joss was wearing an, apparently, very effective mask and 'altering' (?) her voice while in the bondage club and being Butterfly (technically Joss didn't pretend to be Butterfly, nor did Butterfly pretend to be Joss - she was both, two sides of the same woman in two different settings - it's just that people don't normally use other names when in different settings.
Usually.
Why didn't Joss say anything? Well, 1) up front Joss doesn't get a pass for the action that unfolded;
2) there is a really common and really fucking despised trope that popped up - communication blocked (like cock blocked, but with communication) - Joss kept trying to tell Jaime, but every time she began to do so, Jaime 'blocked her' by, among other things, kissing her in the middle of sentences (bitch); Joss would be all like 'before we go any further I need to tell you . . .' and Jaime would be all like '*pounces onto Joss as Butterfly and begins to fuck her*'. On the other hand,
there were occasions when Joss could have said something - reading between the lines, I think this just meant there were fewer instances of Jaime pouncing Joss than lost communication opportunities, but . . . Joss still did have these openings. They weren't always fucking. (hide spoiler)]I rather disliked everything about this book, the main characters, the side characters, the side side characters (like Sam the sexually harassing boss), and the overall story line.
In terms of other characters: Jaime's parents - both of them, were horrible. Jaime's mother is a nasty horrible shrew; while Jaime's father was a weak ass piece of shit who never stood up for his daughter. This reminds me, though that I really liked what Jaime said to her mother when she finally snapped and called the mother out on her hypocrisy. So much so that I'm going to go ahead and add another star to my review.
I've forgotten what else I wrote on my phone.
