Art Model Stand In by Maria X.

Art Model Stand InArt Model Stand In by Maria X.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Second short story I've tried by this author. And another one involving a college student. This time at school - a student, Patricia, is not doing well in an art class. The teacher lets her know she can get extra credit by being a nude model. She does the extra credit work.

Adding a level of humiliation to the story (because, apparently, need to add humiliation to these type of stories needs to be multiple layered apparently) - Patricia is haing trouble because of the sexual nature of the class and Patricia's deeply religious upbringing (um, why she take the class, is elective). And if she didn't really know what the class would be about - she'd have learned within the first week, way within the zone of being able to drop the class. It annoys me when 'heaps of humiliation' are added for stupid reasons - it's not a bloody class she needed to take, she could have easily have dropped it so . . . - she'd rather fail the class than have her parents 'so ashamed of her' for dropping class (WTF is that about)? They wouldn't be ashamed of her failing but would be if she dorpped the class? mmphs.

"Patricia had had a crush on him since the first day of class." - oh, now I understand why she hadn't dropped the class.

This author seems to have something of a shaved fetish. This is the second story in which a character's being 'completely bare down there' has been a major issue/deal. First story the young woman was seen to have shaved everything and was called a slut. Here the young woman is asked to shave for the photo shoot. And she's acting very shocked and horrified. Shaving fetish. Did not know that existed. 'That seemed so lewd!'

'The only pubic hair she had was a small triangle just at the top of her slit.' - um, wha? This . . . she'd almost fainted from shock when she heard she had to shave everything off. And she barely has any hair down there to begin with? shesh.

Is waste an alternate spelling for waist? This is the second story with waste instead of waist.

Oh for fuck sake . . ..

I like nude model stories, but this was just crude. And included power imbalance/blackmail type of stuff. All that touching of that nude model - rough pulling on nipples, etc. Plus the woman didn't want to people to know who she was, and her 'friend' says her name revealing who she is, lying to her about the class knowing it is her despite the mask. Bah. pfft.

'It doesn't usually get that out of hand.' - even the teacher, who did nothing, knew it got out of hand.

Jen's Humiliating Airport Adventure by Maria X.

Jen's Humiliating Airport AdventureJen's Humiliating Airport Adventure by Maria X.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A woman in between the third and fourth year of college is heading home after the semester ended. She's apparently not traveled much and isn't too capable of handling security check-points. When something causes the scanning amchine to beep, the 'fat loser' (her words) came over asking if she had in metal. She, oddly, flips out and starts throwing around words like fuck ('I'm not wearing any fucking metal!').

Her attitude continues to not help things, the TSA agent(s) (later another one turns up), continues to try to handle the situation, until he decides to take advantage. After one of them places a hand on her shoulder, the young woman physically assaults them and ends up handcuffed. Lead away for more interrogation.

Apparently she forgot she had something metal stuck into her nipple. Easily forgotten, right? I say that because she mentioned her great body toned from swimming like 5 times, mentioned her hard nipples poking into her tight dress (after being forced to remove her bra) several times, but not once did she mention the metal piercing. Until, oops, there it is.

Right so - several words wrong, etc. etc. (like agin for again; waste for waist). Odd actions in this story. Like the male agents strip searching the female. The female constantly kicking the agents (in the stomach, in the groin) that kept making things worse. People acting shocked and calling her a slut for being shaved. In this day and age? Seriously? mmphs.

And then she spit on him. Bah. A TSTL character is supposed to be in an urban fantasy, or the like, not here (to stupid to live).

Story disturbed me.

The "Volunteer" by D.H. Jonathan

Somewhat disturbing book on several levels. From my notes as I read:

44% - "Woman being forced to wander campus naked for 2 months. One of her professors tries to take advantage, rape almost happens. She is saved. The professor forcing her to be naked then, after saving her, hugs her without permission. Then one of the helpers, 'an attractive man', kisses her without permission (though slowly and tentatively). Which part of this is ok/not ok? forced nudity? almost rape? hug, kiss?"

67% - "Definite vibe of force/dubious consent/etc. - especially when the things the 'forced to be naked woman' chooses to do on her own initiative, be a nude model for an art class, gets a one liner ('did modeling, got two more gigs from the guy'); while the force stuff, for the most part, gets a lot more than one liners.

And seriously? Just . . .breaking into a student's room and sitting on her bed? Dr. Slater is evil."

I've several problems with the book, some noted above. In addition to whatever can be pulled from there:
1) Every step of the way the main character was pushed into doing things out of her control and against her will, sure there were 'okay, you don't have to do it but if you don't you will be kicked out of school and . . . stuff';
2) Things were built in to make 'stuff' more creepy - like how the professor behind the experiment didn't want just anyone (which, apparently, includes real volunteers since they would be the kind of woman (or man) who 'wanted' to do that kind of thing (or have been willing) because . . . . um . . because she's a twisted freak? And the other professor who almost raped her; and the PR person who kept pushing and pushing her into situations the MC didn't want to be in; or the vaguely (and somewhat less so) creepy roommate who kept dragging her boyfriend around to see her 'naked roommate'; to . . . well, even the parents were creepy in their way and no I don't mean the part where they 'just didn't understand' or 'freaked out', I mean they way they went behind her back and purposefully or accidentally made their own daughter out as a liar and fraud (when they attempted to get the professor and school/dean in trouble - mind you they waited several months - until it everything was all over, before they did this stunt) by pointing out . . . well, the truth behind what occurred - that their daughter wasn't in fact making some grand point about nudity and body image and crap like that, but had, instead, been blackmailed into being naked - nationally); to the friends back home who force her to be naked around them - including the part wherein one friend almost got her arrested.
3) WTF is up with that ending? I've partially noted what occurred above but - super creepy professor who was forcing MC to do what she was doing, and at times 'broke into' the girl's room and sat on her bed and strongly encouraged her to do stuff (no, not sexual - continue being naked in public) - 'helped' the MC when she was almost raped and blackmailed that other professor to give the MC a good grade - and later telling the MC that 'he'd be dealt with after the semester is over'. That rapey-professor? Apparently was either forgotten by the time the semester ended, or had no problems associated with his actions - legal or otherwise. At least, nothing was mentioned at the end of the book. No, it was the dean, the creepy 'force blackmailed girl to be naked' professor, and the PR person who got into trouble - and . . . the MC stood up for the creepy professor (at least in the sense that her actions could be construed to help that professor stay on campus - she, in her way, hated the professor and her actions, but . . . um . . . film of her naked was already school property and . . . um . . . the MC . . . preferred the creepy professor to handle it? Something like that? Course, creepy-mccreep then turned around and sold the footage to a film company so . . . MC was stupid. Or something.

The Student, The Rogue & The Catburglar
by Laura Gibson
Pages: 290
Date: August 26 2012
Publisher: Author
Series: Sophie Aughton's Diary (first in series)

Review
Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0
Read: April 17 to May 27 2015

hmm. Another one of those "I've no bloody clue what to put in here" type of . . um . . comments.

I've no real clue what I just read. Over one or more months. I read it because I'd been intrigued by seeing some stuff Laura Gibson had put up on DeviantArt. Roughly similar to this here book. Pictures with captions, though. I mention only to note that I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into when I started . . . and I'm still not really sure.

Apparently this is the "diary" of one "Sophie Aughton". I do not know the school system in England, but I believe she starts the book as a freshman in college. Or the equivalent. Other than every once in a while remembering to actually attend classes and study (actually, I think she did attend and study, she just was late a lot; and fell back on prior learning in moments when she was called upon to explain an assignment that she forgot to do, but had knowledge about from whatever comes before college in England). That was a completely messed up sentence. hmms. Other than attending classes, Sophie attended several clubs, specifically the Live Action Role Playing club, and the karate club. In addition she spent lots and lots of time in an online virtual world.

A shy woman at the start of the book. And mostly at the end. Though by the end she's just embarrased as she does stuff she would have been too shy to do at the beginning of the book. hmms. Is that a spoiler? I keep distracting myself. As I ramble. As the book unfolds Sophie plays at bondage games inside the virtual world, and real life bondage games by herself and with her roommate.

bah. I've no real idea what to put here for this book and instead of anything coherent, I have this. The book took me a lot longer than normal for me to complete. There's a definite beginning middle and . . . well, the end ended with one of those *stares at computer screen, squeaks "that's !"*. To a certain extent there were way too many characters. Especially since so many of them were more than just ciphers. Trying to keep track of them all was hard. In terms of the erotic nature of the book . . . - well, some was exciting, some was . . .well, it was mostly exciting.

Oh, the virtual world. I wanted to get back to that. The action in the virtual world and during the the role playing events were shown . . . . as if they were happening . . um . . .. Hmms. Let me try it this way. Sophie would log into the virtual world as Feline. As Feline, she did stuff. And reacted in a manner as if the action was occurring in real life. Instead of in a virtual reality. Like, Feline ended up exposed a few times, Sophie, controlling the avatar called Feline, became quite embarrased as she was exposed. So, an emotional connection. Another example, as Feline, Sophie did such things as get involved in hogtied races, dance on stripper poles, etc. All described as if she was actually doing them. And feeling them. And being embarrased by them. I'm probably not explaining this well. By "actually doing them" - obviously the avatar is "doing" something when the real life person controlling the avatar does it. What I meant by "actually doing them" can be best seen when Feline was on the stripper pole. Dancing. Getting tips. The person giving the tip made some kind of comment. Feline's dance routine was disrupted by her embarassment. Which . . . isn't what would happen in a virtual world. Well, a 3D virtual world. In a 3D virtual world the dance is preprogramed. The real life person clicks something, the avatar dances - the most that can be seen as controlling the dance is the ability to start, stop, change to a different dance. But the dance is preprogrammed. It's not going to morph, improve, degrade, based on the avatar. If it's a text virtual world, everything that happened would be whatever you typed. bah.

No matter. I've gone and confused myself. And anyone brave enough to reach this point in the review. So . . I'll just skip off to the side now and . . um . . stop typing.

ETA: I was going to make some comment on the virtual world in terms of - which virtual worlds might have been the basis for the one in the book? But, didn't.

The image below is of one of the characters, Sophie I assume, wearing the bunny suit. Well, Sophie wears a bunny suit in the book.
